Double Edged Blade

Don't you dare go hollow

PoemPersonalCreative

Life is a double-edged blade,

Rinse and repeat, and suddenly untamed,

Spirits driven by blame,

Ravaged, thoughts of shame.

As draws the new day,

The sun's warmth extends through its rays,

Resting upon my face,

While lingering spirits say:

Before the last drop of dew runs dry,

Before our own eyes

Can see beyond the disguise,

When shallow vanity cries.

Where wisdom failed to guide,

Or matters of fate desire,

When hearts are taunted, pierced and pried,

The soul can shatter and die.

Still, in depths void of life,

How improbable! For a soul to revive,

They chant as the darkness goes by.
