Hello, World

Why I'm starting this blog and what I want to write about.

PersonalRelationshipsFriendships

Hi there

I've been meaning to start writing for a while.

As a matter of fact, I think I've taken too long to start.

I've been feeling down lately. It's been a long time since I've felt comfortable expressing myself, and I think part of me has been looking for a way to break away from that restraint.

What's strange is that expressing myself has never really been difficult for me.

If anything, I can say that I'm good at it.

So why has it become so difficult now?

I've been spending more time alone, thinking about things I used to care about, the people I used to hold close, and the meaning I once attached to certain relationships.

Some of those things don't feel the same anymore.

Some of them feel almost absurd when I look back at them.

And the one that I lost looking back at it to now It's incomprehensive.

I find myself asking why I gave so much of my time and attention to things that, in retrospect, didn't deserve nearly as much of it.

Why did I allow myself to become distracted while something genuinely important, the most important things was slipping through my fingers?

Maybe that's one of the hardest things to admit:

I lost focus.

And there is a particular kind of frustration that comes with realizing that you might have been wrong—not because someone else convinced you, but because you eventually arrived at the conclusion yourself.

I've been thinking a lot about friendship, loyalty, and the way we choose to spend our time.

For a long time, I believed that being loyal and being there for people was simply the honorable thing to do.

And maybe it is.

But loyalty without boundaries can become something else.

You can keep giving your time to people because you care about them, because you don't want to disappoint them, or because you believe that being a good friend means always being available.

And somewhere along the way, you can lose sight of the people and things that actually matter most.

That's something I'm still trying to understand.

I don't have a clean conclusion for it yet.

Maybe that's part of why I'm writing.

Not because I have everything figured out, but because I don't.

Writing gives me somewhere to put those questions.

It gives me a way to examine them instead of letting them endlessly circle around in my head.

And maybe that's what I want this site to become.

A place where I can write about engineering and software, obviously.

But also about ideas, mistakes, things I'm learning, things I'm building, and occasionally things that have nothing to do with programming at all.

I don't want everything here to be polished.

Some things probably shouldn't be.

Sometimes I just want to think out loud.
